George Carlin was (and still is) one of the biggest influences on American, comedic and popular culture. One of Carlin's most famous comedy routines was his "Seven Dirty Words," which was central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which it was ruled that the U.S. government had the right to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.
George Carlin was noted for his political insights, his black humor and his acute observations on language, psychology, religion and on many other taboo subjects. George Carlin died on June 22, 2008.
